The golden sunshine, southern hospitality and quaint beachside charm you’ve always experienced in Panama City Beach is nothing new. What is new, however, is almost everything else! A new skyline of distinctive architecture fills the horizon, and a collection of enchanting eateries, exhilarating attractions and chic retail are arriving daily. New museums, theaters, galleries and parks are on their way. The renovation of Front Beach Road will bring sidewalks, bike paths, tropical landscaping, a public trolley system and a fresh new look to the beach. The new Bay County International Airport, scheduled to break ground in early 2007, will be completed in 2009 opening travel channels throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia, and making Panama City Beach one of the most sought-after travel destinations in the world.

Panama City Beach History
|
Panama Beach is rich with American history. St. Andrew Bay was home to Indians before becoming a community in the 1800's. This was a favorite place for pirates to lay in wait for rich ships passing by.
Another area that is full of history is St. Andrew's State Recreation Area. In World War II, this site was used for Sound Military Reservation. To this day you can still see the circular cannon platforms in place near the jetties.
